Health classes explained

Preferred Plus, Preferred, Standard Plus and Standard: what these terms represent and what determines your placement.

Each company assigns a rate class to set term life pricing. Though terminology changes slightly across firms, the ranking follows the same structure: Preferred Plus (called Super Preferred or Preferred Best by some), Preferred, Standard Plus and Standard, then further classifications for elevated-risk cases. Smokers fall into their own tier arrangement at steeper costs.

What underwriters look at

Weight and height metrics, blood pressure readings and cholesterol levels, relatives' diagnoses of heart illness or tumors before sixty, driving history, medicines, line of work and pastimes, and consumption of tobacco or nicotine products. Being in the highest category demands excellent marks almost across the board; Preferred permits modest variance; Standard Plus and Standard accommodate well-managed situations including medicated blood pressure.

How to use the quote tool

When filling out the health section, reply truthfully about yourself: Excellent aligns with Preferred Plus, Very good with Preferred, Good with Standard Plus and Average with Standard. Your rates represent this tier; the underwriting stage confirms your actual assignment. Uncertain which to pick? Get rates for multiple groups and review side-by-side; the application finishes the assessment. Picking a better-sounding health status won't reduce your cost; it only makes the quote less dependable.

Susman Insurance Agency assists in identifying carriers whose policies are tailored to your individual health circumstance, which frequently determines your price more than the base rate.
